If you are the millions of people around the world who are very tall, you know there are things made that are not quite right for our height frame. Furniture like chairs, sofas, beds, clothes, bikes—the list goes on that doesn’t quite fit people 5 feet 10 and up.
Seems tall pioneers like Colleen Smith are trying to make a different in the battle of body pains—whether it’s your lower back, your knees or joints pain, tall people have major health issues with products that do not cater to our needs.
In this series of “Height Does Matter,” we will tackle, discus and showcase people and problems who are making small miracles for people like us!

I just want to add how important it is to find activities that cause pain and fix them. There are a lot of things you just don’t think about because you get so used to them.
I have a tall cutting board like this and it makes a huge difference. I’m about 6’3 and people told me I should put in a taller countertop, but I rent so that wasn’t exactly possible. Plus a kitchen remodel isn’t exactly cheap.
If you want to see the difference ahead of time, go to her page and find out how tall it would have to be. You just have to make two measurements, but you probably need someone to help with one of them. Then find some books or magazines and a cutting board and make it the same height. The new position seems a bit strange – for about thirty seconds – and then it seems completely natural. You are standing with good posture.
The big point is that counters are for the average height American women – something like 5’4 or 5’5. If you are much over that, you’re going to be really bending.
One thing that I don’t think is emphasized is this company can make custom lengths and widths. You can have a cutting board sized one or something larger that can be used more as a little countertop.
I’m looking forward to seeing more ideas and products discussed here. This one is very simple, but it is brilliant!
